Safer Domiciliary Care

Home care (also known as domiciliary care) is provided to people who still live in their own homes but who require additional support with household tasks, personal care or any other activity that allows them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Anyone at any stage of life could require home care including those with learning disabilities, mental health problems, sensory impairment or physical disabilities.

In Salford:

  • Approximately 1200 people receive home care
  • Around 350 staff provide 10,000 hours of care every month

As part of the Safer Salford Programme, work is underway to support the homecare providers to build a network to help improve the quality and reliability of the care they offer to Salford residents.

Key to this is a person centred approach that is based on lived experience.
